W as für Schwaben ihr Viertele aus dem Henkelglas ist, das ist für Hessen ihr
Äppelwoi aus dem Gerippten. Die erhabene Rautenstruktur soll dem Inhalt
des Glases Glanz und Tiefe verleihen. In der Frankfurter Altstadt stand das über 250-
jährige Traditionsmuster zudem Pate bei der Gestaltung der Bürgerberatung im Erd-
geschoss des historischen „Goldenen Lämmchens“. Dittel Architekten konzipierten
den schmalen, lang gestreckten Raum als Showroom, der die Aufmerksamkeit vor-
beigehender Passanten auf sich ziehen soll. Eine markante, dunkelrote Wandverklei-
dung dient als raumbildendes Element und hält die Fläche frei für den Publikums-
verkehr. Prospektfächer falten sich in Form von Rauten aus dem umlaufenden Band
heraus, während eine Sitznische in kontrastierendem Weiß einschneidet und so den
dreidimensionalen Eindruck verstärkt. Kompakte Kuben aus hellem Birkenholz und
Edelstahl dienen als Infotheken und bilden die einzige Möblierung im Raum. Sie ste-
hen mit ihren kühlen Farbtönen, ebenso wie die Sitzmöbel in den Fensternischen
und die Leuchtschienen an der unverkleideten Decke, für ein junges, modernes De-
sign, wohingegen Boden- und Wandgestaltung in Farb- und Materialwahl auf das
umgebende Dom-Römer-Quartier eingehen. Damit nimmt die neue Anlaufstelle ge-
konnt das Frankfurter Spannungsfeld aus Hochhaus-Skyline und Bürgerbauten auf.

H essians enjoy drinking their famous apple cider from a ribbed glass. Its raised
diamond-shaped structure is said to add shine and depth to the content. In the
old town of Frankfurt, the more than 250 years old traditional pattern furthermore
inspired the design of the citizens’ advice centre on the ground floor of the historic
Goldenes Lämmchen. Dittel Architekten planned the narrow, elongated space as a
showroom to attract the attention of passers-by. Striking, dark-red wall covering is
the space-defining element. In the shape of diamonds, brochure compartments un-
fold from the red wrap-around band whereas a seating niche in contrasting white
cuts into it for a more three-dimensional impression. Compact cubes of light-colou-
red birch wood and stainless steel serve as information counters and are the only
furniture in the room. With their cool colour tones, the cubes as well as the seating
furniture in the window niches and the lighting rails on the bare ceiling, they stand
for a young, modern kind of design whereas the choice of colours and materials of
the floors and the walls adapt to the surrounding district with the cathedral and the
town hall. The new contact point thus successfully takes up the contrast of the tower-
block skyline and the bourgeois buildings typical of Frankfurt.
