W er sich als Gastronom in die Stuttgarter Flaniermeile Calwer Straße einreihen
möchte, sollte nicht nur um die Aufmerksamkeit von Passanten, sondern auch
um die langfristige Zufriedenheit der potenziellen Gäste buhlen. Dazu bedarf es neben
Mut und Geld eines intelligenten, ausgeklügelten Gastronomie-Konzeptes. Das lieferte im
Falle der Pizzeria Büffel & Bier der ortsansässige Innenarchitekt Moritz Köhler mit seinem
Team. Der Name ist Programm und gehört ebenso zur Corporate-Design-Entwicklung von
Studio Komo wie das Logo, Icons, Speisekarte, Außenwerbung, Internetauftritt und na-
türlich die Innenraumgestaltung. Unter dem Motto „Knusprig – knallig – bio“ gehen Büf-
felmozzarella auf Pizzen, Flatbreads und Bowls ein sympathisches Tête-à-Tête mit ober-
gärigem Pale Ale ein. Und das drückt sich auch in der Gestaltung des nur 80 Quadratme-
ter großen Lokals aus. Von der Decken hängt eine A rmada aus Edelstahlscheiben, die
sich bei näherem Hinschauen als Pizzawender entpuppen, und was auf den ersten Blick
wie eine wohltarierte Farbgestaltung wirkt, sind augenzwinkernd farbliche Bezüge zu
Senf, Bier und Fleisch. Die Wände sind entweder mit Beetbegrenzungssteinen aus dem
Baumarkt gestaltet, um den handgemachten Charakter der angebotenen Speisen zu un-
terstreichen, oder verbessern als Paneele aus hochwertigem PET-Filz die Akustik. So
lange die Speisen halten, was das Interior verspricht, steht dem Erfolg nichts im Weg!

W hoever wants to get established as a gastronome at the Stuttgart Calwer
Strasse should not only vie for the attention of the passers-by but also for the
long-term satisfaction of potential guests. This needs an intelligent, sophisticated ga-
stronomic concept. In the case of the Pizzeria Büffel & Bier, the local interior designer
Moritz Köhler and his team definitely delivered this. The name says it all and is just
as much part of the corporate-design development by Studio Komo as the logo, icons,
menu, external advertisement, online presence and, of course, the interior design.
With the motto “crispy – showy – organic”, the buffalo mozzarella on pizzas and flat-
breads are an appealing side-by-side with top-fermented Pale Ale. And this is also ex-
pressed in the design of the restaurant just measuring 80 square metres. Hanging
from the ceiling is an armada of stainless-steel discs which turn out to be pizza spa-
tulas and what seems to be a well-balanced colour design are playful colour refe-
rences to mustard, beer and meat. The walls are designed either with flower-bed bor-
ders from the DIY store to emphasize the hand-made quality of the food, or improve
acoustics as panels of high-quality PET felt. As long as the dishes live up to what the
interior promises, there is no stopping the success!
