Material, Raum, Konstruktion: „Das Versteck“ macht Architektur spielerisch erfahrbar – perfekt für den Architektennachwuchs. • Material, space, construction: “The Hiding Place” allows playfully experiencing architecture.

J enga – an dieses Konstruktionsspiel mit rechteckigen Hölzern erinnert die Spielland-
schaft des polnischen Architekturbüros Port. Das Projekt basiert auf einem Architek-
turworkshop für Kinder, den die Architekten Józef Franczok und Marcin Kolanus im Auf-
trag der Open Mind Stiftung leiteten, als Breslau Kulturhauptstadt war. Durch gegensei-
tiges Lernen kam das Projekt „Kryjówka“ heraus. „Das Versteck“ greift eines der Ur-
Bedürfnisse von Kindern auf, erklärt das Bauen in seiner elementarsten Form und zeigt,
wie wenig es braucht, um auf Dauer eine Attraktion zu sein: Nichts als langlebiges, duf-
tendes Holz, kein Plastik und schon gar kein digitales Bling-Bling! wa

J enga – the playscape by the Polish Port architectural office reminds of this popular
construction game with rectangular pieces of wood. The project is based on an ar-
chitecture workshop organized for children which the architects Józef Franczok and
Marcin Kolanus led on behalf of the Open Mind Foundation when Wroclaw was the
Capital of Cutlure. The Kryjówka project was the result of mutual learning. “The
Hiding Place” takes up one of children´s basic needs, explains building in its most ele-
mentary form and shows how little it really takes to be an attraction for a long time:
Nothing but durable, fragrant wood, no plastic and definitely no digital bling-bling!
