Entwurf • Design Innenarchitektur: Weiss–heiten Studio, Berlin

U nter dem gemeinsamen Markennamen Fora bieten Fora und The
Office Group (TOG) seit Ende des vergangenen Jahres über 60 Pre-
mium-Workspaces in Großbritannien und Deutschland an. Einer davon
befindet sich in der Kronenstraße 63 in Berlin-Mitte, und zwar im mar-
kanten Kontorhaus, das 1997 von den Architekten Kleihues, Brenner,
Lampugnani, Dörrie, Stepp aus Berlin und Frankfurt am Main erbaut
wurde. Es ist zudem der erste Berliner Coworking Space der nunmehr
fusionierten Marke. Weiss–heiten Studio konzipierten die Niederlassung –
seinerzeit noch im Auftrag von The Office Group – unter dem Motto „New
Romance“. Damit wollten die Berliner GestalterInnen an die lebendige
Geschichte der Friedrichstraße anknüpfen und – im Hinblick auf stets
wiederkehrende triste Berliner Wintertage – eine inspirierende Arbeitsat-
mosphäre schaffen. Das Konzept der 6000 Quadratmeter großen Office-
Welt sei ein Spiel der Gegensätze – Alt und Neu, Eleganz und Industrial
Style, Urbanität und Natur, Luxus und Achtsamkeit, so Weiss–heiten Stu-
dio. All dies spiegelt sich in der Materialität wider – bis in die gemeinsa-
me Küche. Dort kamen kleine Zementmosaikplatten von VIA im Format
10 mal 10 Zentimeter in Rotbraun und Altrosa zum Einsatz. Der subtile
Farbwechsel soll eine gewisse Tiefe und Raffinesse in den Raum bringen,
ohne dominant zu wirken. Nur eine von vielen Wahlmöglichkeiten: Die
in handwerklicher Tradition hergestellten VIA-Uniplatten gibt es in mehr
30 Farben, die sich harmonisch miteinander kombinieren lassen. wa

U nder the joint brand name Fora, Fora and The Office Group (TOG)
have been offering over 60 premium workspaces in the UK and
Germany since the end of last year. One of them is located at Kronen-
strasse 63 in Berlin-Mitte, in the striking office building built in 1997
by architects Kleihues, Brenner, Lampugnani, Dörrie, Stepp from Berlin
and Frankfurt/Main. It is the first Berlin coworking space of the now
merged brand. Weiss–heiten Studio – at the time still commissioned
by TOG – conceived the branch under the motto “New Romance”.
The designers were inspired by the vibrant history of Friedrichstrasse
and – considering the recurring gloominess of Berlin on winter days–
aimed to create an inspiring working atmosphere. The concept for
the 6,000-square-metre office space is a play of contrasts: old and
new, elegance and industrial style, urbanity and nature, luxury and
mindfulness. All of this is reflected in the materials – right down to the
shared kitchen. Small cement mosaic tiles from VIA in the format of
10 by 10 centimetres in red-brown and antique pink were used there.
The subtle change in colour is intended to bring a certain depth and
sophistication to the space without being dominant. Just one of many
options: The VIA unipanels, produced using traditional craftsmanship,
are available in over 30 colours that harmonise well together.
