3 Zum Abschluss Klassik neu interpretiert: Die Feuerwache in Winnenden am Kreis -
verkehr der Südumgehung – das dritte Feuerwehrhaus der Stadt – überzeugt mit
minimalistischer Formensprache und Akzenten in klassischem Rot. Das Team von Drei
Architekten aus Stuttgart entwarf ein Gebäude, dessen Funktion klar ablesbar ist. Von
der Landesstraße aus sind zum einen deutlich die Zahlen 112 zu lesen, die in großer, roter
Leuchtschrift den 13,50 Meter hohen Feuerwehrturm aus Sichtbeton zieren, zum ande-
ren öffnen sich hierhin die vier Tore der Einsatzfahrzeughalle – großzügig ver glast lassen
sie die Feuerwehrwagen sichtbar werden. Konträr zur Vertikalität des Turms und den
hohen Hallentoren, prägt eine horizontale Lamellenverkleidung aus grau lasiertem Lär -
chen holz die teilweise zweigeschossige Fassade des Haupttraktes und unterstreicht des-
sen ruhende Wirkung. Innen wiederholt sich diese Struk tur in der Decken verklei dung
des Schulungssaals und Bereitschaftsraums. Durch die Integration der Be leuch tung wird
hier die klare, entwurfsbestimmende Gestal tungssprache unterstrichen. Holz, dunkel-
braune Steinzeugfliesen sowie Weiß an den Wänden ergeben zudem eine ruhige Far big -
keit, die mit Farbakzenten in klassischem Feuerwehrrot belebt wird – ob im Um klei de -
bereich mit roten Spinden und wegbegleitender Decken gestaltung oder im Ein gangs -
bereich mit Aus stellungsfläche. Der Einsatzfahrzeugfarbe entlehnt, hat das Rot Signal -

3 roundabout of the south bypass – the city’s third fire station – convinces with a mini-

malist design vocabulary and classic red. The team from Drei Architekten in Stuttgart
designed a building whose function can easily be read. On the one hand, from the road
the numbers 112 can be read which decorate in large, red neon writing the 13.40 metres
high fire-station tower of exposed concrete; on the other hand, this is where the four
doors of the emergency-vehicles hall open– generously glazed, they allow the fire engines
to be seen. As a contrast to the verticality of the tower and the high doors to the hall, hori-
zontal slat cladding consisting of grey-varnished larch wood characterizes the in part two-
level façade of the main section and underlines its calming effect. On the inside, this
structure is repeated in the ceiling panelling of the training hall and the ready room. Due
to the integration of the lighting, the clear, design-determining vocabulary is here empha-
sized. Timber, dark-brown stoneware tiles as well as white on the walls furthermore pro-
duce a calm colourfulness which is enlivened with accents in classic fire-engine red –
whether in the changing area with red lockers and a continuous ceiling design or in the
entrance zone with an exhibition area. Borrowed from the colour of the emergency vehi-
cles, the red has a signal effect and leaves no doubt that the fire brigade is stationed here.
