hues, such as the rosé and red shades of the bedrooms, which offer breathtaking views of
the lake. The living and dining areas, painted in a sunny yellow, are flooded with natural
light through French doors, intensifying the invigorating, cheerful effect of the colours and
creating a play of light and reflections. Iconic furniture pieces – like Jean Prouvé’s 1951
Fauteuil Direction chairs – surround the dining table, while the DS-600 modular sofa from
1972 dominates the fireplace room, which features a marble mosaic floor. Originally, all
living areas were adorned with ceiling frescoes. Today, only the fresco in the oval fireplace
room remains intact, but Parisian artist Matthieu Cossé created reinterpretations in the
two corner rooms of the main floor, paying homage to the villa’s history.
Outdoor living: garden, grotto, pool, jetty...
The outdoor spaces are integral to the villa’s concept. Given the region’s mild climate,
the garden was conceived as a second living room and verdant oasis. J. Mayer H.
und Partner had this open-air refuge completely redesigned, blending old and new
elements. Fruit trees, banana plants and climbing vines were planted, while the pool
was resurfaced with locally sourced natural stone and surrounded by a wide seating
ledge. The property’s grotto now features showers and changing rooms, complemented
by an outdoor fountain with water lilies and fish. From their sun loungers, the family
enjoys unspoiled views of the lake, which shifts in appearance depending on the time
of day and season. For a change in perspective, a boat trip from the new jetty offers a
stunning view of the villa from the water.
