HAUS A
NEAR REUTLINGEN
How did Las Vegas make its way to the Swabian Alb?
With high-quality materials, dazzling details and plenty
of generosity! The interior designers at Studio Alexander
Fehre achieved this in the course of redesigning a sing-
le-family home near Reutlingen through zoning, seamless
transitions and functional built-in furniture. They demons-
trate that living with children can also be glamorous!
T he „A“ in „Haus A“ stands for the Achalm - a small mountain near
Reutlingen in the Swabian Alb. Not much here is reminiscent of
the American desert state of Nevada. But the homeowners wanted a
touch of Las Vegas from Stuttgart interior designer Alexander Fehre
for the redesign of their home on Reutlingen‘s local mountain. The
expanding family, which loves the atmosphere of the glittering casi-
no city and its hotels, was longing for more spaciousness and more
glamor, while at the same time requiring representative areas for the
regular welcoming of business partners. The commission only includ-
ed transforming the entrance lobby, the living and dining room and
the open kitchen - but the effect is a whole new house! The kitchen
and living room now merge seamlessly into one another, a high-qual-
ity walnut wood slatted paneling unites the areas horizontally and
provides plenty of storage space. At the very back of the kitchen, a
rose-colored wall further accentuates the visual separation of the two
zones - and visually surrounds a separate bar area with a panoramic
view of the surrounding hills. In the open-plan living and dining room,
on the other hand, a generous marble table forms the new centerpiece.
It is crowned by a multi-surface folded ceiling sculpture that stretches
alongside the roof ridge, dampening the room acoustics whilst incor-
porating the installation of the ceiling lighting. The adjoining open-
plan home entertainment room is also visually effective thanks to
a functional piece of built-in furniture and the renewed switch to a
bright, metallic color and material scheme. The interior designers led
by Alexander Fehre were able to use the original room layout and
even use it to create a new spaciousness with a clever use of materials
and colors as well as flowing room transitions. Without interfering too
significantly with the existing building, the Stuttgart studio has once
again demonstrated its expertise in the field of upmarket private living
with just a few simple steps. And it also shows that representative
rooms, living with children and a little bit of glamor can certainly go
Grundriss • Floor plan together in style very well.
