Hohe Wellen schlagen aktuell in der Lobby des Einkaufszentrums Estella Place in Ho Chi
Minh, Vietnam. Mit seinem jüngsten Kunstprojekt will der US-amerikanische Foto graf
Benjamin von Wong auf den derzeit viel diskutierten Gebrauch von Plastik stroh halmen
aufmerksam machen. Einmal benutzt, landen sie im Müll, und dann dauert es gut 500
Jahre, bis das Plastik abgebaut ist. Aus 168.000 benutzten Trinkhalmen ist nun mithilfe
von mehreren Hundert Freiwilligen eine über drei Meter hohe Welle entstanden. In
Vietnam ist die eindrückliche Installation bis Ende März zu erleben. Im Anschluss ist Von
Wong auf der Suche nach einer neuen Location – Vorschläge sind willkommen.
High waves are currently breaking in the lobby of the Estella Place Shopping Centre in Ho
Chi Minh City, Vietnam. With his latest art project, the American photographer Benjamin
von Wong wants to draw public attention to the much-discussed use of plastic straws.
Once used, they end up in the garbage, and then it takes a good 500 years for the plastic
to degrade. With the help of several hundred volunteers, a wave over three metres high
has now been created from 168,000 used straws. In Vietnam, the impressive installation
can be experienced until the end of March. Afterwards, von Wong is looking for a new
location – suggestions are more than welcome.
