Der Grundstein für den neuen Stadtkern von Nova Gorica wurde 1948 gelegt. Die Stadt ist ein bedeutendes Projekt des Architekten Edvard Ravnikar. • The foundation stone for the new city centre of Nova Gorica was laid in 1948.

Es ist ein Novum in der Geschichte der Europäischen Kulturhaupt-
stadt: 2025 zieht neben Chemnitz (AIT 4.2025) erstmals eine grenz-
überschreitende Stadt die Aufmerksamkeit auf sich: Nova Gorica,
das historisch und alltäglich eng mit dem auf der italienischen Seite
der Grenze gelegenen Gorizia verbunden ist – zwei Orte, die auf eine
schwierige und von Spannungen geprägte Vergangenheit blicken und
sich nun annähern. Was es in der jüngsten Stadt Sloweniens zu ent-
decken gibt, verrät Design- und Architekturjournalistin Tanja Pabelick.
