Magdalena Zehofer illustriert mit ihrer Abschlussarbeit, wie eine
Industrieruine inmitten einer Brachlandschaft in Derby nach Jahr-
zehnten des Dornröschenschlafs, die Stadt wirtschaftlich wie sozial
bereichern kann. Die von ihr vorgeschlagene Umnutzung zum Hotel
auf der einen und zum öffentlichen Indoor-Garten auf der anderen
Seite will nicht nur den Tourismus, sondern auch die ortsansässige
Stadtgemeinschaft fördern. Konferenz- und Gastronomiebetrieb bil-
den zusätzliche Anziehungspunkte für Stadt und Region.

The thesis by Magdalena Zehofer ingeniously manages to compre-
hensively illustrate how an industrial ruin, which is located in the
middle of a wasteland in Derby, is able to enrich the town both
economically and socially after several decades of slumber. Her
proposed conversion of the site into a hotel on the one hand and
a public indoor garden on the other aims to promote not only tou-
rism but also the local community. Conference- and catering facili-
ties will be additional attractions for the city and the entire region.
