I n der dicht bevölkerten Metropole Seoul haben die meisten jungen Erwachsenen
Schwierigkeiten, ein eigenes, bezahlbares Zuhause zu finden. Co-Living-Projekte
wollen dafür eine Alternative bieten. In einem 16-geschossigen Wohnhochhaus konnte
der in Vancouver tätige Innenarchitekt Ian Lee 140 Micro-Apartments sowie Gemein-
schaftsräume im Auftrag des Co-Working- und Co-Living-Anbieters Fastfive gestalten.
Die Größe der Studios variiert zwischen 16 und 23 Quadratmetern. In Anbetracht der
kleinen Wohnfläche fielen beim Briefing immer wieder die Schlagworte, „einfach, aber
kultiviert, wohnlich, warm und gemütlich“. Auf der Suche nach einer geeigneten Ba-
lance zwischen Zeitlosigkeit und Komfort wählte Ian Lee eine minimalistische Design-
sprache. Als „nackte Leinwand“ für die persönliche Aneignung der Miet-Apartments
bezeichnet er seine Entwürfe. Birkenholz verleiht den Kleinstwohnungen ein warmes,
hochwertiges Ambiente. Einbauschränke mit viel Stauraum, gepolsterte Nischen und
integrierte Küchenzeilen sowie fest installierte Sitzflächen entlang der Fassade opti-
mieren den Platz. In einigen Apartments lässt sich der Schlafbereich über eine trans-
luzente Trennwand separieren. Um den Gemeinschaftssinn zu stärken und Kontakte
zu fördern, verfügt der Life Co-Living-Space auch über eine Gemeinschaftsküche,
Arbeitsplätze, eine Lounge, eine Sporthalle und einen Dachgarten. wa

I n the densely populated metropolis of Seoul, most young adults have difficulties
to find an affordable home of their own. Co-living projects want to offer an alter-
native. In a 16-storey residential high-rise, the interior architect Ian Lee, who works
in Vancouver, was commissioned to design 140 micro apartments as well as common
rooms for the co-working- and co-living spaces supplier Fastfive. The size of the stu-
dios varies between 16 and 23 square metres. In view of the small living area, during
the briefing the keywords “simple but urbane, cosy, warm and comfy” could be
heard. On the search for a suitable balance of timelessness and comfort, Ian Lee
chose a minimalist design language. He calls his designs a “naked canvas” for the
personal appropriation of the rental apartments. Birch wood gives the micro flats a
warm, high-quality ambience. Built-in cabinets with ample storage space, upholste-
red niches and integrated kitchen units as well as permanently installed seating
areas along the façade optimize the available space. In some apartments, the slee-
ping area can be separated with a translucent partition. To strengthen the feeling of
community and promote contacts, the LIFE Co-Living Space also has a communal kit-
chen, workstations, a lounge, a sports hall and a roof garden.
