KUPFER-KORROSION DURCH SOJASAUCE – KAFFEESTAND IN KYOTO VON RYOHEI TANAKA

Der Suetomi AoQ Cafe Stand ist einem zweigeschossigen Holzbau vorgesetzt, mit einer Tiefe von lediglich einem Meter. • The Suetomi AoQ Cafe Stand is set in front of a two-storey wooden building and has a depth of only one metre.

K lein, aber koffeinhaltig: Direkt an einer von Kyotos verkehrsreichen Straßenkreuzungen
liegt der zehn Quadratmeter große und nur einen Meter tiefe Kaffeestand des japani-
schen Süßwarenherstellers Suetomi; drei Gehminuten entfernt von dessen Flagship-Store.
Wegen der begrenzten Fläche sind die Küche und der einer Haltestelle ähnelnde Sitzbe-
reich der Länge nach organisiert. Ryohei Tanaka, Gründer von G Architects Studio, ließ den
Stand unter dem Bestandsvordach eines Holzgebäudes mit Kupferblech verkleiden und die
Patinierung durch einen Anstrich mit Sojasoße beschleunigen. So konnte das Gestaltungs-
reglement der Stadt umgangen und die Fassade in den Firmenfarben realisiert werden. sf

S mall but caffeinated: Located directly at one of Kyoto’s busy intersections, you’ll
find the coffee stand of Japanese confectionery maker Suetomi, which is ten square
metres in size and just one metre deep, just a three-minute walk from their flagship
store. Due to the limited space, the kitchen and seating area, resembling a bus stop,
are organised lengthwise. Ryohei Tanaka, founder of G Architects Studio, clad the stand
under the existing canopy of a wooden building with copper sheeting and accelerated
the patination process by painting it with soy sauce. The city’s design regulations were Fotos: Daisuke Shima
bypassed, and the façade was finished in the company’s colours.
