rooms, 130 business rooms and seven longstay apartments. All rooms are naturally
designed with automotive flair: While the 22 square metre business rooms and the
apartments with kitchenettes, which are twice as large, are restrained in their clear
design and the automotive references are limited to large-format wall graphics - they
show archive photos from motor sports - the design of the themed rooms goes far
beyond that. For example, the foot ends of the beds are decorated with bonnets from
well-known racing car models. Tyres or rims lined with glass panes serve as bedside
tables. And wall paintings depict famous racing scenes and drivers from history.

Design references to the automotive world
While the rooms are spread over four floors - from the second to the fifth upper floor
- behind a classic perforated facade with room-high windows, the house on the sixth
upper floor is crowned by an all-round glazed wellness area with a surrounding ter-
race. On the first floor, the hotel again accommodates a large event and conference
area, while the ground floor accommodates the reception, lobby, bar and restaurant.
In addition, there is a 400 square metre showroom on the building's plinth, inclu-
ding a workshop of the racing luxury brand McLaren, as well as an exhibition of Ar-
thur Bechtel Classic Motors' classic car treasures spread over two floors. The two
plinth floors are generously glazed and thus provide passers-by with a great deal of

nated by leather and Corten steel. The ground floor is also equipped with a continu-
ously laid, extremely hard and drivable floor covering, which was originally develo-
ped for car park renovations. A reference to the automotive world is also provided
by the circular ring lights from Delta Light, which - as large as car tires - are suspen-
ded in various variations from the concrete ceilings of the building. In the main en-
trance area, which extends over all floors as a glazed airspace, the guest is received
by a playful composition of super OH ring lights. In different diameters and different
heights and angles, they float under the ceiling of the top floor and bathe the en-
trance with their downward glowing rings in warm white light.Translated with

Consistent dialogue between light and architecture
Super-Oh luminaires were also used in the event and conference area. The variant
with flush-mounted integrated LED spots illuminates the front areas. The event area
itself is also illuminated by Super-Oh models. They can be combined in groups to
generate different lighting moods. The conference area, which is screened with glass

Delta Light. The profiles allow multifunctional use of the three connectable confe-
rence rooms, each designed for around 30 people. The spotlights and light strips in-
tegrated into the profiles provide pleasant ambient lighting for beamer presentati-
ons, while separately switchable spotlights from the Spy family provide standard-
compliant lighting for conference tables. In the hotel rooms, Delta Light implemented
multi-component lighting: Square recessed ceiling luminaires from the Carree family
provide ambient lighting, while elegant pendant or surface-mounted ceiling luminai-
res from the Ultra series add decorative highlights. They form light islands that lend
the rooms additional flair. Recessed ceiling luminaires from the Grid-In series illu-
minate wall graphics and pictures. Small B-Flex luminaires mounted on the sides of
the bed provide excellent reading light. In the V8 Hotel, a consistent dialogue bet-
ween lighting and architecture is achieved. Where there are strong stimuli, the lumi-
naire design is formally restrained. Where the seemingly technical architecture ne-
cessitates it, tall chandeliers interpreted in a modern way as ring lights complement
the interior design. In the hotel rooms, the choice of luminaires was determined by
the largely invisible nature of the light source or the reduced design vocabulary.
