Denkt man sich die Kaugummi-Farben weg, erinnern die Büromöbel plötzlich an Folter- und Fetischinstrumente. • If one ignores the chewing-gum colours, the office furniture suddenly reminds of torture- and fetish tools

W ir haben die Botschaft gehört und verstanden: Sitzen ist das neue Rauchen! Ob
die Büromöbel-Kollektion des französische Jungdesigners Geoffrey Pascal aller-
dings die Lösung ist? Laut Selbstauskunft sind Schreibtisch-scheue Millennials und mo-
derne „Bettarbeiter“ die vorrangige Zielgruppe. Für uns scheint es sich bei den Entwür-
fen jedoch weniger um Arbeitsgeräte als vielmehr um moderne Folter- und Fetischin-
strumente zu handeln. Schon die Namen der Möbel – etwa The Triclinium Gum (oberes
Bild) oder The Flying Man (unteres Bild) – könnten direkt aus dem Kamasutra stammen.
Und beim Begriff „Bettarbeiter“ denken wir ohnehin zuerst an Hugh Hefner. ub

W e have heard the message and we have understood it: Sitting is the new smo-
king! But whether the collection of office furniture by the young French desi-
gner Geoffrey Pascal is the solution? According to self-disclosure, desk-shy millennials
and modern “bed-workers” are the primary target group. For us, however, the designs
are less a kind of working equipment than modern torture- and fetish instruments.
The names of the pieces of furniture alone – such as The Triclinium Gum (photo
above) or The Flying Man (photo below) – might come straight from the Kamasutra.
When the word “bed-worker” is mentioned, we first think of Hugh Hefner, anyway.
