D er 1963 geborene tschechische Glaskünstler Vladimír Bachorík fertigt wunderschöne Objekte
aus farbigem, mattem Glas. Seine 71 Quadratmeter große Wohnung in Prag dient ihm seit jeher
auch als Atelier. Wohnen und Arbeiten an einem Ort – das sollte auch nach dem Umbau so blei-
ben. Was Bachorík nicht mehr wollte, waren Türen. Neuhäusl Hunal Architekten bildeten deshalb
aus genau dem Material, mit dem der Künstler täglich arbeitet, offene, den Grundriss zonierende
Trennwände. Dazu verwendeten sie simples Profilbauglas. Aus diesem U-förmigen Gussglas ist auch
das Bad inklusive Dusche und WC gefertigt, das prominent in den Wohn-, Küchen- und Werkraum

B orn in 1963, Czech glass artist Vladimír Bachorík creates beautiful objects from coloured, fro-
sted glass. His 71-square-metre flat in Prague has always served as his studio. Living and wor-
king in one place – this was to remain the case even after the renovation. What Bachorík no longer
wanted were doors. Neuhäusl Hunal architects designed open partition walls zoning the floor plan
from the very material the artist works with on a daily basis using simple profiled glass for this
purpose. The bathroom, with shower and toilet, is also made of this U-shaped cast glass, which
projects prominently into the living room, kitchen and workroom. After all, in a single-occupancy
flat, no one is bothered by anyone sitting in a glass house ...
