Geht es auf die letzten Lebensjahre zu, sprechen viele vom selbstbe-
stimmten Altwerden, doch was, wenn Hilfe erforderlich ist? Einst lag
die Pflegetätigkeit im Aufgabenfeld der Familie. Heute leben Ange-
hörige oft weit von ihren Eltern entfernt, die trotz Pflegebedürftigkeit
älter denn je werden. Nie war damit ein größerer Bedarf an Alten-
und Pflegeheimen gegeben. Wir zeigen drei Heime in Selfoss, St.
Leonhard und Lyngdal, die gekonnt auf ihren Standort, aber auch auf
die Bedürfnisse von Bewohnern, Pflegern und Angehörigen eingehen.

As we approach the final years of our lives, we talk about growing old
in a self-determined way, but what happens when help is needed?
Caregiving used to be the responsibility of the family. Today, children
often live far away from their parents who, despite needing care, are
getting older than ever. Thus, there has never been a greater need for
homes for the elderly and nursing homes. We show three homes in
Selfoss, St. Leonhard and Lyngdal that respond to their location, but
also to the needs of residents, carers and relatives.
