Mehr als 30 Jahre lang war die Fondation Cartier am Boulevard
Raspail in Paris beheimatet. Dann zog die Stiftung an einen neuen,
größeren Standort im Herzen der französischen Hauptstadt um. Am
25. Oktober eröffnete vis-à-vis des Louvre in einem prachtvollen, 1855
erbauten Gebäude aus der Haussmann-Ära die neue alte Fondation
Cartier. Verantwortlich für die flexible Innenarchitektur zeichnen die
Ateliers Jean Nouvel. Der Pritzker-Preisträger hatte das Projekt im Mai
auf der am 23. November endenden Architekturbiennale vorgestellt.

For more than 30 years, the Fondation Cartier has been located on
Boulevard Raspail in Paris. Then the foundation moved to a new, lar-
ger location right in the heart of the French capital. On 25th October,
the new-old Fondation Cartier opened opposite the Louvre museum
in a magnificent building from the Haussmann era that was built in
1855. The flexible interior design was created by Ateliers Jean Nouvel.
The renowned firm had already designed the innovative glass cube
for the foundation’s contemporary art collection in 1994.
